You are Shang, a young Chinese general in a war against the huns around 500 AD. You're from a military family and are commanding your first platoon. You've been training your soldiers for weeks to become a cohesive unit under your command and are called to the frontline. At the Tang Shao pass, your troups get surprised by the huns. Your most talented soldier creates an avalanche which buries a significant amount of the hun army below it and saves you from certain death. During the fight, the soldier gets hurt and while getting private treatment, it is found out the soldier is a woman. Joining the military as a woman warrants the death penalty.
